“21 Grams”is a conceptual sculpture that explores the delicate relationship between the body and the soul. Inspired by the long-debated idea that the human body loses 21 grams at the moment of death, this piece reflects the mysterious possibility of the soul having weight not scientifically proven, yet profoundly thought-provoking.
The sculpture is composed of two contrasting elements: A solid concrete form representing the physical body its weight, presence, and material existence. And a fine wire structure symbolizing the soul light, invisible, and transcendent.
This piece captures the moment where the soul separates from the body, a transition that occurs not only in death, but also metaphorically in dreams and altered states of consciousness.
“21 Grams” invites the viewer to question reality, existence, and the unseen dimensions of being.
